TFT is most powerful when the emotion or problem is there and can be addressed in the moment.
I was able to work through my anxieties and fears with Bruno. Working through video-conferencing can make one feel more comfortable if, as in my case, face-to-face interactions can be stressful. In just two sessions I was able to feel a real release of the anxiety that was almost crippling me, and I now feel much better. I was also able to do a small session on my fear of flying before a trip, which also helped me a lot in the sense that the « automatic » negative thoughts were much less present. It was a great help for my evolution, thank you very much!
Work overload:
The most representative work stressor.
Files are piling up on your desk and the phone is ringing off the hook! You’re running around and you haven’t even had time for lunch! There are many causes of stress at work and overwork is one of them. Personal fulfillment is put on the back burner and the fear of being fired causes a lot of damage to those who are lagging behind. So we do more to keep up, at the risk of losing our feathers. Poorly evaluated staffing levels, poorly distributed tasks, abusive overtime, deadlines to meet, are all factors conducive to stress, depression, and even burnout.
Relational difficulties:
the fear of asserting oneself can generate stress
Relational life is at the heart of our daily life and can generate stress or even discomfort. While some people approach public speaking with confidence, others are terrified of saying a single word at a lunch with friends. Expressing specific requests, accepting criticism or compliments, knowing how to say no without feeling guilty, ending a conversation, listening and responding with flexibility, could be part of the « ideal » communication in a society. However, our expectations, our fears, our emotions, our education, our doubts and our feelings can be an obstacle to coherent communication. Then stress takes precedence over discernment. And we find ourselves stammering as soon as we open our mouths, not daring to say what we think, slamming the door for lack of composure, ruminating in our corner so as not to explode, blushing at the slightest thought, in short, being totally at odds with ourselves for fear of asserting ourselves.
Financial problems :
Stress that is difficult to manage on a daily basis.
Over-indebtedness, insolvent loans, poor budget management, difficult month ends, financial problems are often a source of stress and anxiety. All the more so if your social, professional or family status is in danger. In addition to the lack of money, there is the feeling of uneasiness and guilt, especially when family members are involved. If the problem is temporary, it has no consequences for the future. On the other hand, if it is recurrent, it can seriously damage mental health. Some people will give up and isolate themselves, others will be in denial and increase their compulsive purchases, while others will tighten their belts to pay off their debt. In all cases, emotional and physical balance will be affected.
Studies :
A legitimate cause of stress
The causes of stress in young people are frequent and studies are one of them. Going to college or university is a real obstacle course. All the more so if a competitive examination is involved. To continue one’s studies today is almost unconscious, as the professional future of these students who are fond of « knowledge » is opaque and uncertain. Hence the recurrent anxiety before, during and after their studies. But that’s not all. The overload of lectures, the short time allotted to « ingest » everything, the lack of sleep, the memorization problems, the intellectual and physical fatigue, only aggravate the stress of students, who are already well prepared to learn. Added to this is the imperious desire not to disappoint the people around them and to brilliantly obtain their diploma in order to launch themselves into active life. It is difficult in this case to approach studies with serenity…
Children :
source of happiness but also source of stress
Ah, our children… These little cherubs fill us with happiness and put us in ecstasy at each of their new feats: the first tooth, the first step, the first word… But they are also a source of stress… on a daily basis! Between homework, persistent night fevers, screams and arguments among siblings, toys lying around, refusals, crying, how to keep calm and not stress? But there is also our recurrent guilt if our children are not fulfilled or if they have bad grades at school. We can also talk about adolescence and its setbacks. Not to mention the worry of seeing them grow up and finally become adults to succeed in their professional and family life. Whew! All this requires a lot of energy and a good dose of perspective that is often difficult to achieve.
